San Antonio 2016 (1/4): Wednesday, April 6

The Music Teachers National Association held its annual conference in San Antonio, TX this year, from April 1-6, 2016. I blogged all about the conference sessions I attended here at ColorInMyPiano.com on my blog for piano teachers. Here, I’ll share now about the “mini vacation” that followed with Paul.

DAY 1: Wednesday, April 6

Paul’s flight arrived in San Antonio around noon. My friend, Susan Hong, and I picked him up at the airport and then she dropped us off at our hotel. We stayed at the O’Brien Historic Hotel, just a couple minutes’ walk from the riverwalk area downtown.

First order of business: find lunch for Paul! We found a small Mexican restaurant in the historic La Villita area. Paul ordered some brisket and avocado tacos as well as some chorizo and egg tacos.

I was excited to show Paul the beautiful riverwalk area. We spent a few hours just walking, wandering, and exploring.

For dinner, we visited a restaurant called Zinc, which was recommended to me by a fellow piano teacher during the conference. They made the guacamole at our table for us. Talk about fresh!

I ordered a margarita pizza, and Paul ordered a lamb burger. The food was fantastic.

After dinner, we walked around for a few more hours and then stopped for drinks at Zucca (best mojito ever, excepting the ones we enjoyed in Puerto Rico!). Back at the hotel, we chilled and planned for our next few days.

Stay tuned for Day 2!
